			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A plane belonging to Ethiopian Airlines has crashed into the Mediterranean sea shortly after taking off from Beirut airport. The plane carried 89 people to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.</p>
<p><span id="more-1421"></span>Witnesses say they saw the ET409 flight felling into the sea after hitting stormy weather. According to <a href="http://edition.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/africa/01/25/ethiopian.airliner.crash/" target="_blank">CNN</a>, four bodies have been recovered. Out of the 89 passengers onboard, 51 were Lebanese nationals, 23 Ethiopians, two Britons, an Iraqi, a Turk, a Syrian, a Canadian and a Russian. The wife of French ambassador in Beirut, Marla Pietton, was also on the flight. 8 crew members were servicing the plane.<a href="http://www.airlinepost.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/naame.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-1422" title="naame" src="http://www.airlinepost.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/naame.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="262" /></a></p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;We don&#8217;t believe that there is any indication for sabotage or foul play,&#8221; Lebanese President Michel Sulayman said.</p></blockquote>
<p>El Aridi, Lebanon&#8217;s minister of public works and transportation, said the plane disappeared from the radar shortly after take off. The crash took place at about 3.5 km (2.1 miles) west of Na&#8217;ameh.</p>
<p>Ethiopian Airlines is one of the few airlines allowed to fly in Europe, having 56 destinations that it services. The airline had two other crashes since 1980. In Novermber &#8217;96, an EA flight heading to the Ivory Coast was hijacked by three men. The plane crash while the pilot attempted an emergency landing, killing 130 of the 172 people aboard. Also, in September &#8217;88, a plane hit a flock of birds, incident which killed 130 of the 172 passengers.</p>
