British Airways under heavy strike
British Airways started a 3 day strike to protest against the planned changes to pay and other conditionals that made thousands of passengers suffer. BA and the Unite Union had a fierce disagreement regarding this strike’s effect, but 12,000 cabin crew of the airlines finally staged the final day of industrial action. The BA staff has made it clear that unless a reasonable solution is found to justify the employees’ pay they will go for strike again on March 27.

British Airways reported a shocking third quarter operating profit of GBP£25 million pounds (USD$39 million) during the last three months of 2009.
British Airways reduces baggage allowance
British Airways is going to cut down its free baggage allowance from two bags to one bag in most of its long-haul routes from October 7. There are other restrictions on sporting equipments also.

British Airways has won an injunction by the High Court that suspends the 12-day cabin crew strike. According to the court that made the decision, the strike was against the law because union had not balloted its members correctly.

British Airways and Iberia merge
The world’s third largest airline by revenue was created by British Airways and Iberia. The creation of a new airline means the merger of two airline companies. It is expected that the amalgamation will be completed in late 2010. The new airline will have 419 aircrafts together with 205 destinations to fly.
