Aer Lingus profit down 9.7%

Aer Lingus recently reported a further decrease of profit, which, according to officials, is proof of a “stabilising” performance after reducing aircrafts and capacity.  The company announced last month its plans to cut one fifth of its workforce, coupled with eliminating another plane from its long-haul services during summer and winter of 2009.

British Airways faces record losses

As the downturn in business travel continues, British Airways announces record losses and estimates it will need more time to recover that previously expected. The company is set to face a 252 million pound pre-tax loss for the first half of the 2009, making this the second consecutive year without any recorded profit.
