Here’s a great piece of news for people travelling for the Balkan area. Three new airlines are expected to open its operations next year linking Sofia, Bulgaria’s capital, to Berlin, Vienna and Copenhagen, as stated by Plamen Stanchev, managing director of Sofia’s airport.
FlyNiki, the Austrian-based no-frills airline, will add a new route to its portfolio, Sofia – Vienna, six times a week,
starting with February 1st. Tickets starts at 11 euro, without taxes. FlyNiki will also begin operations in Belgrad and Bucharest, connecting them to Vienna.
Hamburg International Airlines will begin flying between Sofia and Berlin in 2010.
Last but not least, the Denmark-based Cimber Sterling airline will link Sofia to Copenhagen. The company is also planning on starting a route to Burgas, Bulgaria’s summer destination.
The lowcost airlines currently servicing Sofia are EasyJet, Wizz Air and German Wings.
