Due to the stabilization of airfares, that had a steady decline during this year, travelers can buy tickets at a reasonable price. Generally, the cost of airline tickets is lower than last year. Even Travelocity had to drop the airfare by 14 percent.

The prices were checked by Genevieve Shaw Brown, Travelocity’s senior editor. She noted that prices were different as in July fares were running 15.3 percent lower in comparison with the last year. But by September 15, they dropped down only by 14 percent.

Tom Parsons, CEO of discount travel site Bestfares.com emphasized that airline tickets are in great demand that is obviously considered to be good for travelers. He also wanted to show that not all airline companies are going to make discounts for airline tickets.  He showed example that one can buy tickets for $149, which earlier could be availed for $99 each way.

It is considered that low-cost carriers compete with each other as it was with big carriers such as Delta and American. Parson said that it reminds the situation that Jet Blue, the East and West cost had, when JetBlu is trying to charge $159 each way between the East and West Coasts. But because of competitors they had to reduce prices. Thus, the present price of JetBlue between  New York and San Francisco is about $109 and $174 each way.

But still big airline companies can face financial problems as they provide sales in order to improve the situation. Now it is possible to buy business class tickets at a very low price, i.e. they have the same price as economy class tickets.

In order to avoid expense of flying empty seats many airline companies have decided not to use small planes and reduce the number of flights.
